Types of Investment
We believe capital is a Swiss Army Knife: many types, the right one for the right purpose. We want to help you use the right type of capital that aligns your business objectives with the outcomes our members are hoping for.
Traditional Venture Deals
Preferred Equity, Common Equity, Convertible Notes, and SAFE Notes.
Revenue Based Financing
For companies with predictable revenue looking to grow but maintain ownership.
Inventory Financing
Need capital for your next inventory run and don't want to give up equity? Come talk to us!
Heartland Connected
We view our region of focus in concentric circles: Wichita, Kansas, Heartland, Midwest, non-coastal. The further out you are, the stronger the thread back to the center we want to see (willing to hire, strong customer base, grew up here).
Early Validation
Our angels have shown a strong interest in companies with product already created and at least early paying customer adoption.
Idea stage, pre product, or pre customer is just too early for us.
Non-Lead Capital
We don't set or negotiate deal terms (mostly). We typically engage when terms of a fundraise are set.
We are typically a $100-300K aggregate check size in a $500K to $5MM fundraise.
Tech Enabled
Software? Hardware? Biotech/Med Device? E-commerce? Digitally Enabled Service? We want to talk to you.
We do not invest in real estate, franchises, or lifestyle businesses.
Our Thesis
We'll admit: our thesis is a bit general, but we think that's ok. This allows us to find creative ways and reasons to work with amazing entrepreneurs for the right opportunities. But, for the most part, here are a few things we typically look for in companies we want to work with:
Our Process
We try to follow the Hippocratic Oath relative to our investment process and how we treat our portfolio companies: first do no harm, then help. This means we'll respect your time, not be heavy-handed, and try to be helpful regardless of path forward.

AVP hosts monthly pitch meetings in Wichita where 2-3 founders will pitch in front of our group, with time for Q&A and networking.
If enough interest exists following the pitch, we will setup 1-2 diligence Q&A follow up calls with founders and members.
If >$100K of commitments exist, we will move to deal closing.

Individual members make their own investment decisions; we will pool the committed capital into an LLC for each investment.
We used an outsourced provider to help manage and administrate our deals. Founders will coordinate with the AVP team and our outsourced provider to sign documents and wire funds. We try to be pitch to close in <45d where possible!
